Pbbbft Robots

I drew some robots.  I also got a better job.  More to come!

OMG!  I tried to make them cute, but most of them are scary.

Bluh Bluh bluh

I finished the coloring book.
*Everyone Cheers*

Koo Koo was able to hang out, which was pretty amazing.  I'm glad they're such nice guys.
At the moment, I'm working on a secret personal animation, that I hope to have finished by Monday (we'll see...).  I'm also planning on updating my website soon.

Busy...

So, combined with work and extra curriculars, I am almost bogged down with stuff to do!
Yet I have time to doodle silly stuff like this?

I had to draw/play with Frank's nose.
However, I am very happy with all the stuff that I've been doing.  I'm almost done with the Koo Koo stuff (I'm sure that they'll be glad) and I'm working on the Guard Dog Jam animation now too.  Samurai Duelists League has started, and I'm ready to go!

Coloring Book Cover!!!

Hey world!  So, Koo Koo Kanga Roo LOVE what I've been doing so far, and I'm really happy about that.  It always feels great when a client is happy.

Surfing on the color spectrum!!!
I'm also going to be designing a t-shirt for another band (more to come soon).

After I finish up the coloring book stuff, I'm going to work on a DeviantArt group called Samurai Duelists League (SDL).  I hope that everyone can get along with my Dutch Trader.

What a stylish looker he is!!
That's all of the updates for now.  I'm off to make some chili to last the week, and getting ready to work some extra shifts at work (boo).

Long time, no post!

Hey world!  I've been working hard on this coloring book!  Here's a few images:

This one is my personal favorite.

In other news, I got accepted to participate in the Guard Dog Jam (visit http://www.plymptoons.com/ for more info).  I'm also joining SDL on Deviantart, to practice my timliness and also to have good ol' fun!

I like to like to Party!

So, I've been working on the coloring book.  It's coming along, but I don't want to post anything more of it yet, until it's done (deadline end of the month).

I've also been working on a comic called The Time Traveling Accountant, starring Frank Hank.  It's a silly idea I've had for a while, and my buddy/co-conspirator, Geoff, is going to collaborate on it with me.  Hopefully, he'll make it better written than what I would have written.

If I have any say, and I do, he'll never make a normal face.

Also, just for my own amusement:
DANCE PARTY!!!!

Coloring book

Oh hey, I didn't see you there!  I've been working a lot on the coloring book, and not too much else.  Therefore, I'm going to post a little sneak peek!

Neil is at a Mustache Party!!

I'm still working on the comic, and I think that it's coming along nicely.  A couple of us are going to start to work on a podcast soon, and when that is up and running, I'll put up a link.

TERRENCE

This is the villain from the Time Traveling Accountant.
He's a straight-forward guy.  No hiding what he's thinking.

I'm also working on a coloring book for Koo Koo Kanga Roo! They are the best band ever, as far as I'm concerned.  You should check them out.

Working Hard

Hey all!

I have a new, full-time job.  It's just what I like to call a "feed-me" job, until I can get a better one.  Scooping Ice Cream is not where I see myself in the future, haha.

I've been working on a comic with my pal Geoff, and here's the cover:

He's a Time Traveling Accountant!

I'm also working on a coloring book for a band I like, Koo Koo Kanga Roo.  I'm super stoked :)

Another Post

Hallo, everybody!

I graduated three days ago, but it feels like around 2 and a half years ago.

Some Scientists from my flatbook.
I'm getting ready to move, as well, so I'll be super busy this week.  I'm finishing up the Koo Koo thing, and I hope they'll like it.

Graduation

Well...I graduate this Friday!!!!

It feels quite unreal, as if I still have some kind of homework that I'm forgetting about.

Dragon Mask I made a while back.
Also, I'm making a design for a possible T-shirt for that band I like so much.  I'm pretty stoked!
I was having trouble making a proper Neil--and we can't have a Bryan only shirt.

The second sketch I did.  Still didn't feel right.

This is my favorite so far.

I have to get ready for Graduation (printing resumes).  I hope to have the shirt finished tomorrow, and see if they like it.  Here's hoping!

Um

So, for some reason, my browser has converted to Cantonese.  Hm.  I need to fix that.

Wut? Time to learn the language!

Sunday a-mornin'!

When I got my computer back, I started to doodle in photoshop, and it turned into another one of those "I'm going to make a million brushes, and see how they look/work".

Made a few new brushes I like.  Still trying to perfect some of the skin brushes.

Also, I don't think I ever posted my try at animating in photoshop.  This was done a while ago, and never finished, but the facial expression still really amuses me.  Take a gander!
 Dancing fiend.

One of my roommates has this scary cat thing...it peers into your VERY SOUL.

Scary Cat.

Flat-a-booook

Finished storyboard for the Koo Koo Music Video I'm working on.
I finished my flatbook (hooray!).  I'm going to do a heaaaavy post sometime soon with all of the sketches I've accumulated over the quarter.  They'll range from just about anything.

Tuesday Sketches

Posting the best sketches of the day.  This is a guy I know.  On a side note, I'm having to wear my back brace again.  FUN TIMES!
Stylin'!

Back Cover

This is the back of the cover, because I think I'm witty.

Here's Bryan's side of the storyboard page.

This is the opposite page. I want it to be a splash image.

This post just has three images. Check 'em out!

Getting ready for Graduation

Hey all!  I'm getting ready for graduation, which means I'm working on graphic design for my flatbook.  Boy howdy, I'm glad that I'm not being graded on my layout.

This is the cover for the flatbook.  I'd love input on it.  Is it too busy?

This is the inked expressions for Neil.  My favorite is still the bottom-left one.

This is the inked expressions  for Bryan.  I like Neil's the best, but tap dancing Bryan still cracks me up.

More to come shortly.  I'm a perfectionist when it comes to turn arounds, and I discovered some tangents on Bryan's turnaround recently.  I'm going to fix them before they go off to print.

Rough Neil

Just wanted to post the rough expression sheet of neil.  I'm going to post the cleaned up version soon

I like doing mid body expressions, coz the hands speak, too.

Vampires

It's always been my motto that Vampires aren't sexy.  I mean, it'd be just as creepy and weird to me if most of the teenage population was in love with Edward Cullen, the Cannibal.

Sort of speed painting done in a little over an hour. I ended up spending so much time on those goofy teeth :(.

Tiny Post

I'll probably edit this post later, but here's a little picture i colored :3It's Neil, from Koo Koo Kangaroo. I'm not a fan at all...

*Edit:

Color tests for a Neil turnaround (heads only...testing glasses colors).I think I'm gonna go with the black glasses. Sight color differences, I know, but the black looks better to me. Tell me what you guys think. Here's a gradient line of bryan's front view

And here's two Neils. One has the gradient on it, and one is the final colors.

And finally:  A preview of a turnaround, animated :0

OMG CELEBRITIES!

Hey, so me and Geoff were drawing celebrities the other day. Here's my page:
You gotta click on the image and see the full screen. I love Locke's colors. Hope you can tell who everyone is.

Koo Koo Sketches

Some of you may be aware that I'm a fan of Koo Koo Kangaroo.  I've been doing a lot of sketches of them recently, because I want to do some animations of them.  They're so high energy that they can whip most of the audience up into a happy frenzy.
They have this great song called "AOA" that I just adore.  These were pen sketches done on tiny index cards.

A bunch of sketches put together from my small travel sketchbook.  My favorite is probably Neil in the bottom right, crouched down.  He looks furious.

I dunno how many people watch Adult Swim, but I caught that new Steve Bruhl show earlier this week/month.  It's awkwardly funny. (I made this joke picture based on the episode.  He interviews this doctor and says "I'm a doctor too, you dinghis".  So, since he was in that Vampire Apprentice movie...I couldn't resist.).

Now that the text heavy post is over, I'll stop.  More stuff to come!

New intro

I changed the audio on the fat cat animation. It's now an audio clip from one of my favorite characters from one of my favorite sci-fi shows.

Check it out

Pink Dog

So, I cleaned up this walk cycle completely in Photoshop with the (gasp) pencil tool.  I just made the size a little bigger than double, so when I re-sized it to the correct aspect ratio it anti-aliased.  Worked much better than I had hoped, and I might end up doing this kind of clean up for everything else I animate.  It was faster than flash, and was more forgiving than the brush tool.

My, my, isn't he Mr. Posture?

New Inking

Just wanted to let my few followers (I sound like a cult leader) know that I'm experimenting with a new way to ink frames for animation.  I'll post the finished test later tonight (hopefully), and I'd love to know what you guys think.  If everything goes according to plan, I'll have a better, more efficient inking technique that looks cleaner too!

Current Reel

Hey Gang!

I've been compiling my demo reel for the year.  Right now I'm still working out the flow and timing, but it's coming along.  Check it out below!

Fixing up the Blog

My professor showed me this awesome site called Blogger in Draft. You can use these editable templates and it's really user friendly. As you can see, I found a robot theme.

I'm going to be making a t-shirt for this band called Koo Koo Kangaroo. At the concert, Bryan really seemed to like all of our shirts. (Not like I'm getting paid or commissioned for it--don't want to be misleading).

Click here for an animation that I'm currently working on. Guess what? It's a fat cat!

Finished Aquabats

Finished! Can't wait until the concert, but I decided to post the finished art for the blog. More drawings to come tomorrow. I've been working on a fat cat animation :3.

The Aquabats

I'm working on a personal picture of the best band in the world, THE AQUABATS!! They love it when fans make their own costumes, and this will be on mine :).

Monday, April 26, 2010

So, the Aquabats are coming to Atlanta..

And they are! On May 5th, for those of you interested. Anyway, I couldn't think of a witty post title, hence the info on the Aquabats. Here are some scans from the same sheet of gray paper. No rhyme or reason to it.

The first is a picture of the Sparks' heads drawn from memory (knowing my memory, I'm surprised they don't look like Gene Kelly and Wesley Snipes).

Then I tried to draw Army of Lovers from Memory... the only one that looks slightly right is Bard, on the left. I don't know what happened to Barda's face.

...and a hand?

And now, a picture of Japhet from Japhet in Search of a Father. I have this very old copy of the book that was donated to a libray in Memphis in 1908. It doesn't have a print date on it anywhere.

This is one of the first characters you're introduced to in the book. He's a real happy fellownot.

As always, what sketch page of mine is complete without a drawing of my ever morphing Cirga?

My pal Geoff (pictured above), said that Cirga always looks goofy, and can't look as serious as Japhet does... WELL.

Cirga wasn't happy about that remark, so he made his mad dog face.
